Wild Grass

Adapted from Lu Xun's "Wild Grass," the original book is a poetry collection, but its content and narrative arrangement resemble a prose collection. In the process of re-editing, I aimed to enhance the "poetry collection" aspect. However, the main challenge was how to segment and arrange the originally coherent sentences without disrupting their continuity. By controlling the spacing and vertical layout, I ensured that readers could quickly browse the narrative at a glance while enjoying the intricacies of each line.
As the emotional intensity of the collection rises in the latter half, the book transitions from white low-opacity silk paper to black high-opacity silk paper. Designed with large fonts and tight spacing, it creates a sense of visual congestion and discomfort. Additionally, due to the unique silk material, the internal white silk stands out against the black paper, creating a strong tactile and visual impact alongside the
arranged text.
The layout of this book revolves around the imagery of "Wild Grass," starting gently and softly, and gradually becoming tougher as the narrative's emotions intensify. The design is based on a restrained and reserved style, hoping that readers can feel the spirit of the original "Wild Grass" during their reading experience.
